Please knock on your local college's door...
This is a special edition of The Main Street Journal with one very simple ask: Do you know a college teacher interested in leading a community-friendly entrepreneurship program? If so, my colleagues at Bard College (where I teach for its Green MBA Program) would like to connect with this person and see if they are interested in participating in an exciting new program.
On April 20, Bard will hold a virtual launch conference for a new Global Certificate in Social Enterprise and Leading Change. The new Certificate helps two and four year colleges that don't have access to these kinds of courses deliver a world-class undergraduate curriculum in partnership with locally-based co-instructors. In addition to creating projects, students engage in real-time, weekly global classroom sessions.
This post features two videos showing the success of the Global Certificate program in Palestine and Bangladesh, and classes are also joining from Colombia, Bulgaria and Kyrgyzstan. Even if you’re just curious, watch these videos – they are inspiring!
What excites me about this program is that it enables people like us – finally – to get local economic development initiatives on track. No more wasteful corporate subsidies. No white elephant development projects. No global investment schemes. Just local entrepreneurship, plain and simple, meeting urgent local needs.
If you know a professor, lecturer, or college administrator who might be interested in teaching for this global network, please send the name ASAP to Eban Goodstein, Dean of Bard’s Program, at ebangood@bard.edu. We will then follow-up with an invitation to the free April 20th event.
