We encourage The Main Street Journal readers to attend the Harvard Street Neighborhood Health Center Community Roundtable. This is an exciting project in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston, MA, that integrates expanded community health services, affordable housing, and local investment. It’s also a great example of a community anchor representing localism—an example that’s so needed, especially in our times. Details are below.
HARVARD STREET NEIGHBORHOOD HEALTH CENTER COMMUNITY ROUNDTABLE
With Senator Elizabeth Warren’s and Representative Ayanna Pressley’s Staff
Wednesday, June 18, 2025, 2:00 - 3:30 pm ET
The Harvard Street Neighborhood Health Center (HSNHC) invites you to an important Community Roundtable via Zoom.
Since 1969, the HSNHC has been a vital community anchor providing critical health services to our underserved residents and is now nearing the close of a capital campaign to build a larger and more modern facility to serve a greater number of the community. The project will also involve building approximately 100 affordable housing units adjacent to the new facility, thanks to a donation of land from the City of Boston. Other catalytic community impact opportunities will be involved.
The purpose of this convening is to share with you our expanded mission and promote an excellent example of a very successful community impact anchor that should serve as a model for community impact within all our underserved communities across the country.
Given the current onslaught of devastating community disinvestment forces, it’s important that we build strong collaborative coalitions to leverage our ability to address the critical needs of our neighborhoods. Identifying capital sources to close out the campaign, for example, is a priority that we hope will serve all our community stakeholders. The HSNHC is an outstanding example of what can be done to better serve our community despite the draconian change in our country’s priorities.
We anticipate that Senator Warren (invited), a champion for our work, will be joining us. Members of her staff, as well as Representative Pressley’s office, will be in attendance. Senator Markey’s office has also been invited. Therefore, we highly encourage and need all stakeholders and allies to join us more than ever.
We hope to provide more information and updates about this community asset, exchange ideas, and get your insights and suggestions on how we can successfully expand this vital mission that best serves the community’s common good.
We are inviting local stakeholders to join us in person at Roxbury Community College. We also hope that those of you who can attend remotely will do so via Zoom. (Of course, if you happen to be in the Boston area on June 18, please contact us (see contact information below) and we will send you the in-person meeting details.)
For more information and to RSVP, please email Isabel Parker, Community-Vision Solutions’ Director of Operations, at isabel@c-vsolutions.com. The Zoom meeting link will be provided upon your RSVP.
Please share this invite with your colleagues you feel should be included in the convening.
Thank you for all that you do, and we look forward to seeing you on June 18.
Looking good.
